Martin Family Tree
The Martins I am descended from came to Australia around 1875 from Cornwall. Their names were John Martin, born in Stithians, Cornwall and Elizabeth Ann Buckingham also from Cornwall. They followed mining work from South Australia to Broken Hill in New South Wales. For a while they and their children and grandchildren lived in several houses in the same section of Broken Hill. John Martin worked in the mine and Elizabeth would make cornish pasties and sell them door to door. After they died in Broken Hill, their children went to Western Australia, South Australia and some remained in New South Wales. Their descendants live scattered over the Australian continent. Many may not realise how many cousins they have in other parts of Australia.
